"Taking pictures of people Taking pictures of" is an artistic and social critique of contemporary culture, particularly the way smartphones and social media contribute to Guy Debord's concept of 'The Society of the Spectacle'. It highlights the modern obsession with representation and appearance over authentic direct experience. The exhibition will not only be the official launch of the book, but several of Fielding's artistic interpretations will be on public display and available for purchase. There is also a sale of artistic books running at the same venue. Thursday May 28th 11am - Wed June 3rd 2026 Bottleworks 8 Riverside Walk, Byker, Newcastle upon Tyne NE6 1LX
This remarkable publication is a photographic exploration of galleries, art and the people who find it necessary to upload every nano-second of their visit to social media via smartphones. The book interprets this interaction via a series of re-imagined photographic works which themselves are re synthesised.
