MiE (Mike Fielding) has brought his passion and expertise for birdwatching to this visual journey along one of the country’s most beautiful waterways. The majesty of the landscape and its wildlife is captured by the author’s own distinctive and evocative artwork. Birdwatching, history and art are combined wonderfully
The River Coquet runs through some of the most stunning landscapes in Northumberland, inspiring a musician, artist and naturalist to pay tribute. Tony Henderson Cultured North East
With a passion for both art and nature, MiE Fielding is very much at home living next to what he doubtless feels is Northumberland’s loveliest river.
The river runs for 57 miles from the Cheviots, through the villages of Alwinton, Harbottle, Holystone, Hepple, Thropton, Rothbury and Warkworth before meeting the sea near the RSPB reserve of Coquet Island.
Plenty of opportunity then, for MiE to follow his love of birding and recording species in their landscapes in his artworks.
Now he has written, and illustrated with his art, a book which he describes as a personal portrait of one of the UK's finest rivers.
